School Visit to Japan PDF Print E-mail
I was extremely privileged in joining 16
students, Barbara Senoja and our
school parents, Len West, Joanne
Griffin-Klazema, Leesa Harris and
Karen Meers on a two week trip to
Japan.

I am still reflecting on what made this
experience so special. It certainly had
a lot to do with the 16 young
Australian Ambassadors we took with
us who made me very proud
of our school community. The mayor of
Sano City, the members of the I
nternational Exchange Association
and the host families treated us like
royalty. The program they organised
for us included special cultural
experiences, civic receptions, bus
tours and farewell dinners.

Soccer Champion - Jake Wallett PDF Print E-mail
Our own Jake Wallett from 7A has just returned from
the National Schoolboys’ Soccer Champions. Jake
was one of only three players selected from the
Sunshine Coast.

He spent an exciting week in Melbourne, competing
against the nation’s best soccer talent. Parents,
Barry and Toni, probably had little idea about the
amount of kilometres their son was going to travel
playing soccer this year, let alone the level at which
he was about to play.

WAKAKIRRI RESULTS PDF Print E-mail

Mountain Creek State School students from Years 5 - 7 participated in the Wakakirri competition in Caloundra on the 8th of August. This competition is a 5 - 7 minute production on story and dance without the use of words. Our story was entitled "Be Careful What you Wish for". It was a story of a young boy who is forced to clean his room, that is until an army of cleaning sprites and his toys come to life and reign havoc on his room. We came 2nd overall in our performance after the winners Glenview State School with their Ethiopian piece. We earned a gold award for entertainment, props, costumes, public speaking and sustainability as well as silver for music and story. We won the overall category for Creative use of Props and Costumes! The winners will be shown on DVD for the finals. Thank you to all those students who particpated - we are all very proud of you! A big thank you to the teachers and parent helpers who made this possible, without you we wouldn't have been a success!

Erica Hepburn, Co-ordinator
