Dear Staff, Parents and Caregivers, Welcome back to another exciting term at Mountain Creek State School. I hope you had a restful time and enjoyed the school break if you were able to have this time off. We have another action packed agenda for our students with a lot of fun learning opportunities for all students. Special events this term include the Year 5 Camp at Mapleton, the hosting of a Korean Study Tour group and the continuation of our “Young Scholars” program and “Young Achievers” program which starts its Mooloolah River Study. Another important activity will be our Triennial School Review. This process will seek input from staff, parents and students on what is working well in our school that we should celebrate; what is in place but needs some further development; and what should be our key focus for development for the next three years. The recommendations from this review will from the basis of our new Strategic Plan. In order to provide maximum input from parents we are intending to conduct an ‘on line’ questionnaire that will capture your feedback and ideas. You will receive some important information on how you can access this within the next two weeks. Please participate if you can as your ideas for making our great school an even better place are important to us. At the end of last term we posted our School Annual Report which highlights our performance for the past 12 months. Please take some time to have a look at our achievements on the link provided and be well informed of how your school is doing. You can view this report on our school website at http://mtncreekss.eq.edu.au/wcmss/index.php/Reports.html We had a very busy, but very successful Pupil Free Day sharing expertise amongst staff members on such topics as the Teaching of Grammar; our whole school Literacy Strategy; new processes to teach Science more effectively; the moderation of Literacy and Numeracy standards in our lower school and how we can teach Environmental Sustainability in a practical and engaging way which will make a difference for future generations. I know as a parent, there may be some inconveniences attached to Pupil Free Days, but these days are essential if we are to ensure that we continue to make an investment in our most important asset, our teachers. The formula is very simple, high performing schools are built on a skilled and motivated staff.
Kind Regards,
Glenn |
