What is Wearable Art? Wearable Art, or ‘art to wear’ are items of clothing and accessories, individually designed and created to make an artistic statement. They need not be practical, and the only limit is your imagination!
Wearable Art is an extension program offered here at Mountain Creek State School. It is open to students in Grades 4-6. Our student designers focus on using recycled or repurposed materials to create their designs. Plastic bags, dictionaries, milk cartons, junk mail, bubble wrap, envelopes, rubber gloves, biscuit wrappers; all transformed into magnificent Wearable Art creations!
Students attend a weekly Wearable Art skill session where they learn a new skill or technique that they can use in the creation of their garment. Students are supported and guided by experienced Teachers, and the program caters to all levels of creative ability; no previous experience necessary!
At the end of the program students showcase their outfit on the catwalk at a special 'Red Carpet' Event. The MCSS Wearable Art program is a unique, fantastic, creative program that allows students to explore design and their creative talents in a fun, supported, environment.
